Is there any better way to break in a new trailer than with a party? Rebecca turned five on July 16 in Wisconsin.
Traditionally, the birthday Bag chooses all the meals and opens one gift at breakfast. The breakfast? Marshmallow cereal.
The present? A gift from Hannah…a Siamese cat named Tippy…but not alive.
A new friend…to take up space in the trailer. Wink. At least Tippy is squishy.
Rebecca’s birthday landed during another Vacation Bible School week at yet another church. Rebecca took Tippy along.
Time warp!
Later that day, Rebecca decorated her cake with the sprinkles she had carried along in the trailer since leaving Nevada in January, and with the neo-pink frosting she and Daddy picked out at the store.
This baby thinks it’s amaaaaaazing!
She spent most of the day trying to get a taste. Oooo, foiled by Bean!
Foiled again.
Just one taste…
That child glowed for a week.
Here comes that little hand again!
That was a close one.
Present time!
You’ve gotta love Travel Bag-style wrapping.
It’s exactly what she asked for! Jeans.
Baby’s wearing her party clothes.
What’s this?!
It’s a plate!
Clothes, hair pretties, school books, a plate…what a haul…and there’s more!
Sparkle crayons!
Imagine the possibilities!
This is beeeaaaauuutiful. It demands a wardrobe change.
Woo hoo! School books…a.k.a. adventure books!
Here’s the difference between five and fifteen.
Five: School books! Hooray!
Fifteen: School books? Seriously, Ma? Wouldn’t you have gotten those for us anyway?
Chuckle chuckle. Ah, the teens don’t really mind getting schoolbooks, but one in particular has mentioned that it’s a bit of a parental cop-out…and she’s right.
Here’s how we party down.
Hannah makes an allergen-safe, Crohn’s-friendly dessert for the family members who can’t (or don’t want to) infuse their cells with neo-pink.
The children enjoy the birthday Bag’s gifts.
Marissa draws people.
Elisabeth perfects her photo bombing.
And Christy takes picture after picture after picture of her little girl who was only just three last week.
Maybe nobody’s looking now.
Foiled again!
We light.
We sing.
Finally!
Now she’s a glo-baby, too.
Wow, what a day! These too are wiped out!
Just like in A Christmas Story where Ralphie goes to sleep on Christmas night with his Red Rider bebe gunSPELL CHECK and Randy snuggles up with his Zephlen SPELL CHECK, Rebecca curled up with her favorite gift.
Happy birthday, Becca. We pray for you a year of blessings, growth in faith, health, and shiny clean teeth.
