You can imagine that The Travel Bags children have heard Stephen Bautista’s songs a time or two or two hundred. As much as they l-o-v-e Daddy’s music, they were a bit bummed when the CD player on The Bagabus broke so all they can listen to is Daddy’s music. (They were really excited about the Shakespeare audio lessons Mommy had planned.)
Well…the church at Living Word Petaluma had a little treat in store for them.
Vicar Pete Heyn opened for Stephen Bautista. Pete’s a great guy who’s a lot of fun to hang out with. He has played in quite a few bands in the past and has written several of his own compositions. At Living Word, he played a mix of original work, cover songs, and a fan favorite—”Rainbow Connection” from The Muppet Movie.
We had never heard Muppets music performed live before and couldn’t stop grinning. I don’t think the congregation had heard it before either. In fact, I don’t think they had previously seen this side of their vicar. I heard a whispered, “Is that the vicar? I didn’t recognize him.”
You can’t really see it in these pictures, but Pete Heyn could easily pass for Stephen Baldwin…so don’t do what we did and stare at him thinking you know him already, and if you run into the real Stephen Baldwin, don’t ask him to sing “Why are there so many songs about rainbows…”
Thanks, Pete! We had a blast!
